We have a bedroom on the first floor of our house that has a sewer pipe going down one of its walls from the second floor. When the toilet on the second floor is flushed, the water runs down this pipe and makes a loud noise. I would like to have some spray foam insulation blown up the space where the pipe is to reduce the noise. I’ve included a framing photo when the house was built so you can see what I’m talking about.

Townhouses built about 1974. Currently attic insulation is fibre-glass @ 4-5 inch depth. The mansard roof means very shallow pitch with very low workspace (max 46 inches below the ridge piece.) Light fixture boxes have less than 20 inches work space above for sealing. A polyethylene vapour barrier had been fitted (above the ceiling board and below the joists), but there is evidence of long-term venting at wall plates and fixtures, vents, etc. For this reason (it's about 610 square feet) I decided that closed cell foam would seal and insulate this space. There are baffle-vents coming up from the lower mansard roof but how effective they are is not known. Ice damming and icicles are common in winter. Alternatively, a base layer of foam to seal followed by blown fibre to achieve R 50-60.
Attic insulation: More than 1000 sq ft
I have about 5 to 7 inches if insulation in specific areas. My 2nd floor is hotter in the summer and colder in the winter. Looking to top up to reach r60 and ensure baffles are installed correctly and air leaks are sealed properly before blowing insulation. Looking to match current insulation (blown im fiberglass). Attic is about 1100 sq feet. Thank you.
